A note for parents and guardians
Your school uses AssignHQ, a tool teachers use to give assignments and assessments, grade them, and offer students hints from an AI tutor while they work. This page says what that means for your child's information, in plain language. The school decided to use AssignHQ and stays in control of its students' information throughout; this note is from us, the company, so you can see our commitments directly.
What AssignHQ holds about your child
- Their name as the teacher entered it on the class roster.
- The answers they submit, their scores, and their teacher's feedback.
- Their conversations with the AI tutor, which their teacher can read.
- If the teacher turns it on for a specific exam: a recording of the screen during that exam. Screen only. AssignHQ never records webcams or microphones, on any plan.
AssignHQ does not collect birth dates, home addresses, parent contact details, government or student ID numbers, health information, discipline records, biometrics, or location.
What never happens with it
- It is never sold or rented.
- It is never used to advertise anything, to your child or to anyone.
- It is never used to train AI models, AssignHQ's or anyone else's.
- No AI model grades your child's work. Automatic checking compares answers to the answer key the teacher wrote, and the teacher decides every grade.
How it is protected, and when it is deleted
Student work, names, and grades are encrypted, with a separate key for each school, and every time anything is decrypted, that access is written to a log named to the school that nobody at AssignHQ can edit or erase. Exam recordings are deleted within 7 days. Retention for every kind of record is published at assignhq.org/data.
Your rights
You can see, correct, or delete your child's records at any time by asking the school; the school directs AssignHQ and AssignHQ acts on that direction. The school can also stop collection entirely. Complying with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act is AssignHQ's legal responsibility, not the school's and not any teacher's, and a named person at the school with authority over student records approved AssignHQ before any student information was collected.
